Alan Henry Van Heusen, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away at home on October 3, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on March 7, 1949, in Ludlow, Massachusetts.
Through the years, Alan's professional journey as a registered nurse spanned several states, including New York, Florida, and South Carolina, where he held various positions throughout his fulfilling career. He found satisfaction in caring for others, not only through nursing but also while volunteering as a member of the Port Ewen Fire Department and the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad in his earlier years.
Educated with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, Alan built a solid foundation for his impactful career in healthcare. Alan was also known for his charismatic personality. Those who knew him will fondly remember his ability to entertain with stories and jokes, bringing laughter and joy to many gatherings. Alan had a unique gift for connecting with people, and his humorous nature made him a beloved figure.
Alan is survived by his devoted wife, Roxann, and his three daughters: Kristine Donahue of Pendleton, Katrina Madden (Joshua) of Seneca, and Amanda Van Heusen of Seneca. He was a proud grandfather to Benjamin and Alana Madden, who brought him great joy. Also mourning his loss are his sister, Carole (Van Heusen) Martin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his father, Leon Irving Van Heusen, his mother, F. Vyra (Green) Van Heusen, his sister, Ellaine (Van Heusen) Blodgett of Taylorsville, North Carolina; and his brothers Leon "Buddy" Van Heusen, Jr. of Englewood, Florida, and Jan Van Heusen of Port Ewen, New York.
As we celebrate Alan Henry Van Heusen's life, we remember the joy he brought to all around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the stories he shared. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
A small private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
