Charles Bernard Glaser passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on July 1, 1945, he lived a life marked by learning, service, and devotion to the people and causes that mattered most to him.

Charles earned a BA in Geography and later completed a Masters in Public Administration. He went on to serve in his professional life as a retired Import Specialist. His work and education reflected a thoughtful and disciplined mind, and those qualities also shaped the way he moved through the world.

Beyond his career, Charles gave his time generously and pursued the interests that brought him joy and purpose. He enjoyed hiking and reading, and he dedicated himself as a volunteer for Metro Park in Columbus, Ohio. His commitment to service also extended to the Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. He found satisfaction in gardening and in the beautification of highways, bringing care and attention to both natural and shared public spaces. Among the meaningful experiences of his life was a 22-year connection with Metro Park and a pilgrimage to the Holy Land of the Bahai Faith.

Charles is survived by his wife, Carol Glaser, with whom he shared 26 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Alton Lewis, Robyn Lewis, Laruga Glaser, Evening Rose Glaser, Theresa Altman, Julia Phillips, Melissa Franklin, and Vanessa Altman. Evening Rose Glaser shared her life with Patrick Roach, Charles’s son-in-law. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Malik Lewis, Elia Roach, Wasani Lewis, and Nirisi Lewis, who carry forward his family’s love and memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Glaser; his mother, Helena Glaser; and his sister, Barbara Glaser.

A burial service was held on September 7, 2026, at Ramsey Creek Preserve, 390 Cobb Bridge Road, Westminster, South Carolina 29693.

Charles Bernard Glaser will be remembered for his steady presence, his lifelong commitment to service, and the care he gave to both family and community. His memory will remain a lasting comfort to those who knew and loved him.
