Charles (Charlie) Joseph Resler, 89, of Keowee Key, Salem, S.C. peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 13, 2025. He was born December 31, 1936, in Stamford, Connecticut to Charles and Anna Resler.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Jane (Janie), his sister Katherine Spiers, son-in-law Fred Oettle (Deb), and daughter-in-law Susie Resler (Dave).
Charle grew up in Stamford, CT., graduating as class president of Stamford High in 1954. He attended and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1858 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduating Charlie was employed by the DuPont company for 38 years. He had assignments in Wilmington, DE., Circleville, OH., Lawrence, KS., and Luxembourg and retired in 1996.
After retirement Charlie and Janie remained in Delaware enjoying summers boating on the Sassafras River. Escaping the snow, cold and falling leaves they made their winter home in Englewood, FL. Where family and friends visited escaping the northern winter.
Charlie and Jane had a love for traveling. By car, plane and boat they visited many countries and states delighting in landscapes, museums, history, the local wine and cuisines.
In 2004 they built their final home in the Keowee Key community of Spinnaker Cove, Salem, SC. Marvelous, fun-loving and caring friendships were made here on the lake not only for them but the entire Resler clan. They enjoyed boating, tennis, golfing with a favorite group of “Hackers”, flag parties, dinner club and dancing at The Club social events. They also loved the art and theater experiences in Greenville SC and the Flat Rock Playhouse in Flat Rock, SC. Life on Lake Keowee was Charlie’s retirement dream come true.
Charlie valiantly fought the battle of Parkinson’s for 5 years. He was able to remain in his favored Spinnaker Cove home, being cared for by his children. He spent just a few days at Cottingham Hospice House of the Foothills in Seneca, SC before being freed from pain and earthly sorrow.
Charlie leaves to carry on the Resler love of life and the importance of family with many, including children Sandy, Deb, David and Michael (Erin), 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
We celebrate the life of a true gentleman, a kind father, loving grandfather (Pop Pop, Gramps), great-grandfather (Grampa), and the Heavenly Peace that now embraces him.
