Clate Eugene Hamby, 73, of Mt. Rest, husband of Carol Graham Hamby, passed away on June 2, 2026. Born in Oconee County he was the son of the late George Hamby and Elizabeth Wilbanks Hamby.

Survivors include his son, Wesley (Amy) Hamby, three grandchildren who he adored and loved dearly, Kennedi Sanders, Brianna Hamby, and Claire Hamby. Other survivors include one great grandchild, Casen Graham, two brothers, Ed (Shirley) Hamby, and Doug (Sheila) Hamby, his nephews and nieces, Keith Stubblefield, Gary Hamby, Tonya Burton, Kim Deese, Kristi Evridge, Tony Harbin, and Brian Stubblefield.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Gladys Hamby Harbin, Sue Stubblefield, Davis Hamby, and a nephew, Terry Hamby.

Clate was the owner of The Last Chance in Walhalla, for 27 years.

He loved to hunt, go fishing, do canning and gardening.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 12, 2026, from 6:00-8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home, Seneca.

A burial will be 11:30 Saturday, June 13, 2026, 11:30 at Double Springs Baptist Church, Mt. Rest.
