SIX MILE – David Clayton Hendricks, 85, husband of Phyllis G. Hendricks, of 257 Creek Bend Drive, passed away on May 5, 2026, at his home.

Born in Six Mile on Nov. 16, 1940, David was the son of the late James B. and Bertha Skelton Hendricks. A servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He owned and operated Hendricks Brothers Service Station, with his late brother Ray, for 35 years. David was a lifelong member of Kings Grove Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, teacher, and in the music ministry. For more than 40 years, he met with the Flat Tire Buddies (Leonard “Doctor” Holder and Dickey “Pap” Reid) and a group of friends, for prayer on Tuesday mornings. He was an avid farmer and gardener.

He was predeceased in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Wallace, and Ray Hendricks; and by two sisters, Jean and Mary Ann Hendricks.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by four children and their families: Alan Hendricks (Mary Beth, Scott, Clay, and Jenna) of Six Mile; Eric Hendricks (Sandy, Trevor, and Erica) of Six Mile; Jane Whitmore (Brian and Lydia) of Laurens; Mark Hendricks (Marilee, Olivia, and Gracie) of Six Mile; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bud and Tom Hendricks; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on May 17, 2026, at Kings Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. James Williams. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the church.

The family is in their respective homes.
