It is with heavy hearts that the Nielsen family announces the passing of their beloved son, Elliott. Elliott Reed Nielsen was born in Billings, Montana, on April 13, 1992, and he passed away on July 12, 2025.
He is survived by his parents, Allan and Dede, and his sister Emily. Along with 3 nieces and a large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Growing up in Billings, Elliott was surrounded by friends and a large extended family. He enjoyed riding bikes outdoors, playing video games, and dressing up in home-sewn costumes. He had a wild imagination and an appetite for adventure that made him a delightful young boy. He was a gentle spirit and kind to all. The Nielsen family moved to McKinney, TX, in the summer of 2000, where Elliott studied at Dowell Middle School and McKinney Boyd High School.
As a teen, Elliott’s interest in video games grew, as did his love for music. He enjoyed heavy metal and rock music, citing Blink–182 as his favorite band well into his adulthood. While in high school, Elliott took his first job as a cook at a local restaurant in McKinney, where he worked with his sister and several friends.
As an adult, Elliott carried that skill into his professional career, working in food service for over a decade and a half. In his later career, Elliott worked in the kitchen of a large hospital in Billings, MT, before moving to Greenville, South Carolina, to be closer to his family. While in Greenville, Elliott was a Cook Supervisor for a University. Elliott cooked for and served thousands of patrons in his roles at the hospital and the university. He was happy to participate in cooking with the family during holidays, always giving a tip or trick to improve the meal.
After moving to Greenville, Elliott enjoyed spending time with his family, continued his love for video games (of course!), and nurtured a newfound love for the outdoors. In his final years, he spent a lot of time enjoying the natural offerings of far western South Carolina – spending time on the lake with his mom and dad, fishing on his own, or hiking a number of the local trails - Table Rock being his favorite. The family is trying to come to grips with this sudden loss.
Elliott will be forever remembered and loved. Forever 33.
