Geoffrey K. Sosebee, born on April 7, 1943, in Arizona, passed away on August 22, 2026, in Greenville, leaving behind a legacy defined by dedication to family, service to his country, and a life enriched by varied interests and achievements.
Throughout his professional career, Geoffrey distinguished himself by his integrity and work ethic. He retired from Duke Power, where his commitment and sense of responsibility were highly regarded. Even after retirement, Geoffrey maintained a productive lifestyle, working part-time at B and B Pawn Shop, continuing to engage with his community and colleagues.
Service was a recurring theme in Geoffrey’s life. As a proud member of the US Navy Merchant Marine, he served his country with honor. This sense of duty, discipline, and camaraderie shaped his approach to both work and personal life, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
Beyond his career and service, Geoffrey found fulfillment and camaraderie in a range of recreational pursuits. He was an active member of the Spindle Tree Racquet Club, where he cultivated many lasting friendships through his love of sport. His passion for fishing remained a constant source of joy, relaxation, and connection to the natural world. Additionally, as a car enthusiast, Geoffrey delighted in sharing his knowledge and appreciation for automobiles, often fostering meaningful connections with fellow enthusiasts.
At the heart of Geoffrey’s life was his family, whose love and support were a constant presence. He is survived by his daughters, Laveta Nowell and her husband Allen, Valinda Hunter, and Heather McCuteheon; his sons, Jon Garrett and his Kellie, and Shane Garrett; his sister, Barbara Yurbajo; and her spouse, Steve. Geoffrey’s legacy also honors the memory of his late father, Archie Lee Sosebee; his mother, Hellen Amelia Sosebee; and his wife, Sharon Sosebee. His devotion to his loved ones was evident throughout his life, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and well-being.
Family, friends, and all who were touched by Geoffrey’s kindness and generosity are invited to attend his memorial service, which will be held on September 3, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brown Funerals, located at 101 E North 2nd St, Seneca, SC 29678. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, 4010 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672, on September 5, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Geoffrey K. Sosebee will be remembered with respect and affection for his unwavering values, enduring friendships, and unconditional love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his legacy remains a source of inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
