Harold Eugene Wilson, 79, of Asheville, NC. passed away on August 23, 2026 at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Woodfin, NC. he was the son of the late Robert Glenn Wilson and Ellen Mae Parton Wilson.
Survivors include his brother, Rev. William "Bill" Wilson, of Marion, NC. and a sister, Nancy Wilson Waldron of Hendersonville, NC, other survivors include his four children, Kim Johnson (George), of Lady Lake Florida, Ronnie Wilson (Kelly) of Clyde, NC., Kristi Lines (Robert) of Ocala, Florida, Rhonda Byrd (Anthony) of Griffin, GA., eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren who called him GGP and many nieces and nephews.
Harold was predeceased by two brothers, Ronnie Edward Wilson, and Robert Glenn Wilson, Jr., two sisters, Susan Wilson Case and Janet Darlene Wilson McCurry and his beloved pet bird Gertie, his constant companion for over 30 years.
Harold was the owner of Wilson’s roofing for 30 years. He sang with several quartets in the Asheville area such as The Revelation Quartet, and Beacon Quartet. He also enjoyed singing alone during special church activities. He will be missed by many friends and loved ones who enjoyed the love he showed for our Lord through his beautiful singing voice.
He was an avid Hunter and spent many hunting seasons in Tignall Georgia with hunting buddy, Gary Myers. Spending time in Tignall was one of the joys of his life, and he continued to do so as long as his Health permitted.
A funeral service will held 2:00PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Gospel Tabernacle Church,16 Brickyard Dr, Asheville, NC 28806 the family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
