James Bryan Bartlett, known to friends and family as Jimmy, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at his home in Westminster, South Carolina. Born in Washington D.C. on July 12, 1950, he was the son of the late James Boyd Bartlett and Iris Opal Bartlett.
Jimmy was a very talented musician who loved playing the guitar. He received his first guitar at age 7 while living in Madrid, Spain. He carried the love of playing music throughout his entire life. He played and sang on hundreds of stages, as well as countless family dinners and gatherings. Often times, when passing by his house, he could be heard putting his beautiful melodies and harmonies out into the universe. It was always an amazing gift for those fortunate enough to capture and enjoy it.
Jimmy is survived by his brother; Michael Gordon Bartlett, nephew; Michael Jason Bartlett (Christi) and their children; JT Bartlett, and Katelynn Bartlett, niece; Brandy Bartlett McCall (Samuel), and their children; Megan Butts, Elijah Butts, Skye McCall, Reagan McCall, Bo McCall, and Alyssa Moore; along with many more loving friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bartlett is predeceased by his sister-in-law; Wanda Bartlett.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Bartlett's honor to any charity that will help put a musical instrument in a child's hands.
