James Allen Bright passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born on December 18, 1946.
Mr. Bright lived a life marked by service, skill, and dedication. He spent twenty-three years on a Navy submarine and was a United States submarine veteran. He retired from the U.S. Navy, having served as a Chief Petty Officer, a role that reflected both his leadership and his commitment to those alongside him. Following his military career, he continued his work as an engineer at Kennedy Space Center, bringing his knowledge and steady professionalism to another important chapter of service.
He was also active in organizations that reflected the values he carried throughout his life. He was part of the VFW “Gold Legacy,” the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, and was a Fleet Reserve Associate Life Member. These affiliations spoke to his enduring connection to fellow veterans and to the communities built through shared service and respect.
James was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bright, and his mother, Gladys McFarland Bright.
He is survived by his six children and one sister. Those who knew James will remember a man whose life was defined by duty, perseverance, and devotion to family.
His memory will be carried forward by the many family members and friends whose lives were touched by his example and presence.
A service to honor Jim's life will be held at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 2:00PM.
