James Scott Stokes of Pickens County was 70 years of age when he passed away on June 11, 2026. He was born August 9, 1955, in Easley, South Carolina, to James Robert Stokes and Patricia Ann Bagwell. He was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Doyce Stokes, who passed away in his 20s.

He will be remembered for the laughter he shared, and the many stories we have with him and from him. He will live on in the hearts of the people who loved him and enjoyed his presence. James was a good man with a big heart. He was married for 36 years to the love of his life, Vickie Claria Grant Stokes of Salem, who preceded him in death.

James will live on through his five children and his six beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Ethan Scott Stokes of Walhalla, SC; Krystal Leah Stokes of Westminster, SC; James Eric Stokes of Clemson, SC; Joshua Grant Stokes of Walhalla, SC; and his eldest child. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Leo Kane Stokes, Theseus Milo Stokes, Keith Curtis Stokes, Aria Jayde Stokes, Hunter Wayne Stokes, and Josie Mae Stokes.

A private service will be held for family only in Salem, South Carolina. According to his wishes, James will be cremated and placed to rest with his wife.
