Jeanne Hyman Broome, fondly known to all as "Honey," passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on November 21, 1948, in Greensboro, North Carolina, Jeanne was a beacon of light in the lives of her family and friends.

Jeanne's passion for education led her to achieve a Master’s in Education from Clemson University, where she specialized in working with children with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. Her career as a dedicated teacher was marked by innovation and compassion; she was honored as Teacher of the Year at Murdock Elementary School in Marietta, Georgia, a testament to her profound impact on the lives of her students. After teaching for around a decade in Oconee County, Jeanne chose to embrace motherhood, providing a nurturing home for her beloved children. Once her children were a little older Jeanne went back to teaching in Marietta at Murdock Elementary and Eastside Elementary for another seventeen years.

She had a strong faith and love for her savior attending Bethel Baptist Church in Westminster and Restoration Church, in Alpharetta, Ga.

Jeanne lived her life by the fruit of the Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness and self control.

Family was at the core of Jeanne's life. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, Grant, Griffin, and Greer Cheesman, with whom she created countless joyful memories. A woman of warmth and generosity, Jeanne derived immense pleasure from gathering with friends over lunch, where laughter and stories flowed freely. Her love for baking was legendary, filling her home with delightful aromas and sweet treats that brought joy to everyone around her.

Jeanne is survived by her loving family, which includes her daughter, Mandy Cheesman, and her son-in-law Christopher; her son, Candi Powell, and her son-in-law Michael; and her brother Edward Hyman and sister-in-law Tina. Her nieces and nephews, Eydie Bibik, Kendall Hyman, and Max Hyman, will also carry her memory with them.

Jeanne was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Michael Farris Broome. Together, they created a remarkable partnership filled with love and mutual support. Their bond was a beautiful example of devotion that inspired all who witnessed it.

As we reflect on the life of Jeanne Hyman Broome, we are reminded of her vibrant spirit, her unwavering commitment to her students, and the love she shared with her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and joy that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
