Jonah Christian Scott Powell

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Jonah Christian Scott Powell, age 17, of Seneca, who left this world far too soon on August 5th, 2025. Jonah was born on June 3, 2008, to his devoted mother, Jenny Powell.

He was a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, whose kindness, humor, and curiosity will forever be how he is remembered by those who loved him.

A student at West Oak High School, Jonah was known for his creative mind, quick wit, and remarkable ability to remember every detail you ever told him—often making sure you didn’t forget it either. His wide-ranging knowledge came from an endless curiosity about life’s mysteries, and his compassion was evident in the way he cared for both the people and animals he loved.

Jonah had a deep love for his big, bear-like dogs, Nova and Walle, and a quiet strength that made him the person people turned to—whether for a laugh, on the wrestling mat, or help with something heavy. Through his jokes, art, and music, he brought joy, comfort, and connection to those around him.

He is survived by his loving mother, Jenny Powell; his sister Willow; grandparents Linda Olbon, Mackey Stinnett, and Jake and Mary Rogers, his aunts and uncles Anna Stinnett, Misty and Mark Henly, James Lockwood, Lee Rogers, his great-aunt Edith Kozikowski, and beloved cousins, Joseph Kozikowski, Abram Rogers, Daniella and Jaxton Harbin, Dylan and Jacob Henly and many other beloved family members, friends, and mentors who will forever cherish his essence and memory.

A celebration of Jonah’s life will be held at a later date, where friends and family are invited to gather and share stories. In the meantime, the family is receiving visitors at the home of James Lockwood, 2026 Sunset Drive, Seneca, SC 29672. In honor of Jonah’s life, we encourage everyone to practice kindness—to yourself, friends, and strangers. Though Jonah’s time with us was far too short, his beautiful and humble spirit left a timeless mark, creating ripples that will touch our lives forever. We will carry him in our hearts always.

"Forever loved, never forgotten."
