Mr. Ledell Tucker, 74, passed away on May 27, 2026, in Seneca, South Carolina. Born on July 3, 1951, in Muskegon, Michigan, he lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family and community.

Ledell grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he graduated from Langston High School. Following his education, he joined Job Corps in Oregon before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on September 9, 1970. During his military service, Ledell rose to the rank of Sergeant and earned numerous honors, including the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Letter of Commendation, and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge. His time in the Marines exemplified his commitment to duty and excellence.

After completing his military service, Ledell settled in Bremerton, Washington, where he worked at the shipyard. It was during this time that he performed an act of extraordinary heroism by saving a school bus full of children after the driver suffered a medical emergency—a testament to his quick thinking and selflessness.

Ledell’s journey through life took him to various places. He lived in Bremerton before spending time in Georgia and eventually making Seneca, South Carolina his home. Wherever he went, Ledell left an indelible mark on those around him with his warm personality and generous spirit.

A man of faith from an early age, Ledell accepted Christ at Saint Mark's Baptist Church in Hot Springs. His faith remained a cornerstone of his life throughout the years.

Ledell was known for his love of cooking and sharing meals with others. Whether preparing food for family gatherings or simply enjoying time with loved ones over a meal, he found joy in bringing people together. He also enjoyed watching old Westerns and judge shows as well as sports. With a vibrant personality that made him the life of any party, Ledell was cherished as both a good cook and a good friend.

He is survived by his devoted wife Linda Puryear Tucker; one son Ryan Puryear-Tucker; three grandchildren: Ryan Jr., Jade (Kaleb) Honey; two great-granddaughters Hope and Maelanie; one great-grandson Syon; one brother Michael Tucker (Rhonda); one sister Dorothy Thompson (Paul); mother-in-law Lucille Puryear; sister-in-law Sherry Covinton (Paul); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss him.
