Lucas "Randy" Peele, Jr., of Seneca, a beloved pillar of his community, left this world peacefully at home on September 1, 2025. Born on September 6, 1947, in Hartsville, South Carolina, Randy lived a life marked by his dedication to both horticulture and journalism. He graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1965 at Bishopville High School, before earning a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Clemson University in 1969.

Randy was not only a dedicated husband to Pat Pelle for 56 years, but also a cherished brother to Adele Peele Olson, and a proud uncle to Dr. Heather Olson and Lucas Cooper. His love for family extended further to the many children who worked at Peele's Plantables, the business he owned in Bishopville, SC, where he shared his passion for plants and mentored young minds. Randy extended his kindness beyond family, becoming a special figure to Jeff Elston in Timaru, New Zealand, and leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed his path.

With a career that spanned several fields, Randy served the community through his ownership of Peele's Plantables and as an editor of multiple newspapers and magazines. His contributions to the local press showcased his exceptional writing skills and his unwavering commitment to sharing stories that mattered. A dedicated reservist for 11 years in the Army Reserves, Randy embodied a spirit of service that transcended his professional endeavors.

Randy is predeceased by his loving parents, Lucas R. Peele Jr. and Hariet Peele of Bishopville SC, whose values of hard work and dedication shaped the man he became. Those who knew him will remember his warm smile, his generous heart, and his commitment to inspire others through his actions and words. Randy's legacy will live on in the lives he touched, reminding us all of the beauty that can flourish when one cultivates kindness and knowledge.
