Mary Catherine Farrell, 71, of Seneca, South Carolina, died at her home on Saturday, August 8, 2026. She was born March 1, 1955, in Buffalo, New York, daughter of Charles Joseph Farrell and Kathleen Purtill Farrell.

Mary and Bernard (Scott) Appleton were married on November 23, 1976. They remained married for 49 years and eight months until she passed away.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Charles Farrell. Survivors include her husband, Bernard Scott Appleton, of the home; a daughter, Kathryn Mary Farrell Appleton of Greenville South Carolina; a son, John Michael Farrell Appleton of Seneca South Carolina and five sisters, Kathleen Stephens, Joanne Coggins, Virginia Marczynski, Loretta Weishaar, and Cynthia Farrell. She had two Grandchildren, Charles and Joseph from her daughter Kathryn and Son in Law, Nic Skey.

Mary worked as a waitress and receptionist while she supported her husband as he was working his way through graduate school. Later, she raised her children and managed the household. Mary’s greatest achievement was to give her family and friends unconditional love. She always expected the best from them yet was always forgiving and supportive even when they sometimes fell short. We are all incredibly fortunate to have had many years of her love and companionship. She will be dearly missed.
