Patrick Gee Rose

Patrick Gee Rose passed from this life on October 19, 2025.

He was born Feb 1, 1950, in Sacramento, CA. His parents, Col. John G. and Mina M. Rose, predeceased him. He is survived by his sister, Connie Worthington, his nieces Linda Marie Connolly (Hal Connolly) and Joyce W. Virga, along with his great nieces and nephews, Shannon Rose Connolly, Garrett Shea Connolly, Alina Mary Virga, and Vincent Gee Anthony Virga.

After graduating from Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, Va., Pat proceeded to graduate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, often known as Virginia Tech, in 1972 with a BA in Art Education. He taught high school primarily at Lely High School in Naples, FL., for 18 years. He worked at Disney World in the summers, driving passenger boats that were not on a rail! He earned his Master's in Industrial Education at Clemson University, and came to Clemson as an instructor of Graphic Arts a year later. Clemson became his heart and home, where he taught for 24 years. He found Dr. Crouch an inspiration, colleague, and friend, and he said Pat was a “Teacher’s teacher.” Patrick retired from teaching in 2018. He continued to work part-time for the Graphics Department in technical areas of printing and computing. He never stopped creating art, primarily in wood. There were paddles for a student’s brewery, coasters, name plates, treasure boxes, etc. made expressly for his special people.

He was an accomplished sailor who sold his boat to purchase his first computer! He loved animals and especially cats and rescued several over the years. He was the IT king for his family as well as the Graphics Dept., and others across the U.S. His care for his students and fellow man, along with his wry sense of humor, will be missed greatly. Many thanks to his friends Brian Frederick and Kern Cox for their thoughtful care and help, along with the spectacular staff at the Hospice Cottingham House in Seneca, SC.

There will be a Celebration of Life in Clemson in the spring of 2026.
