Regenia Thaxton Reames, affectionately known as “Gigi,” passed away at the age of 77 on October 20, 2026, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenwood, Mississippi, she was the cherished daughter of the late JD and Pearl Chapman Thaxton.

Devoted wife to William Byron Reames for 57 wonderful years, Janice's life was a testament to love and family. She is survived by her beloved husband, their sons Britt (Laura), Jay (Leslie), and Joe Don (Brantley), and her treasured grandchildren: M. Britt, Tate W., Mattox, Sammie, Sloan, Thax, Parker, and Ryan, whom she adored deeply. Other survivors include a sister, Ramona Thaxton and one brother, Tony Thaxton.

She was predeceased by three siblings, James, Luther, and Renee Thaxton.

With a degree from Delta State University, Regenia carried her warmth and wisdom into every sphere of her life. A faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church, she embraced her community with open arms and a generous spirit.

Regenia's legacy lives on through the love she shared and the family she nurtured, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 2:00PM. Reverend Ryan Wilson will officiate.
