Sherman Dale Head, known to all as Dale, age 68, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026. He was born on September 25, 1957, and lived a life defined by strength, kindness, and a deep connection to his family.

Dale dedicated over 40 years of his life as an over-the-road truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, independence, and perseverance. He spent countless miles on the road, providing for his family and taking pride in the work he did. His dedication and commitment were evident to all who knew him.

Dale was a man who valued simple joys and meaningful relationships. He will be remembered not only for his steady presence and caring nature, but also for the joy he brought to others. Dale had a way of bringing jokes and laughter to every gathering, lifting spirits and creating moments that will never be forgotten. He never liked to say goodbye—instead, he would leave with a cheerful “cheerio, cheerio,” a phrase that those who loved him will always hear in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Marie Head Henry; his father, Frank Nathaniel Head; his brother, JC Head; and his sister, Wanda Ann Nicholson.

Dale is survived by his brothers, Johnny Head (Betty), Tom Head (Nancy), and Daniel Henry; and his sister, Nancy Bennett (Terry). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory and carry his spirit forward.

Dale’s life was a testament to the importance of family, loyalty, hard work, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his laughter and spirit will live on in the memories he leaves behind.

A service to honor Dale’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in his memory.

He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
