Theresa Lane (Roach) Smith, age 67, of Clemson, SC passed away suddenly on June 11, 2026 at Pickens Cannon Hospital. After a gastrointestinal crisis she unexpectedly succumbed after several valiant efforts to restart her heart. She was born on September 24, 1958 in Barnwell SC.

She was a much loved, thoughtful, funny, loud, big-hearted woman, born-again Christian, and rabid Clemson fan. She was a surrogate "mother" to anyone in her community she could support or assist, and a dear baby sister, aunt, and companion. She overcame great challenges in her life, including substance abuse addiction, an alternative lifestyle, and stomach and intestinal surgeries and pain by trusting Jesus day by day. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mattie Gowans of Townville and Marvin Roach of Williston , and survived by her beloved sister Sherrill " Sherbie" Hughes of Westminster, Brother Dennis Roach of Clemson (Susie), special Christian sisters Sherrie Johnson and Angela Scroggins of Greenville, and many nieces , nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 30th at 6:00 pm in the chapel at Ramsey Creek Preserve in Westminster. The family will gather at the home of her sister in Westminster following the service. Her family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time and appreciate your prayers.
