William R. “Bill” Andrews, 90, of Salem, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Bill lived a life defined by devotion, discipline, faith, and a deep commitment to his family and the communities he served.

A graduate of Miami University (Ohio) with a Master's degree in Education from SUNY, Bill dedicated 35 years to teaching high school mathematics, where he was admired for his patience, engagement, and genuine care for his students. His influence extended far beyond the classroom. As a head semi-pro and high school football coach for over 20 years, he shaped countless young athletes, teaching them not only the game, but the values of teamwork, perseverance, and character.

Bill’s passion for sports began early. He was an all-state baseball and basketball player, and his athletic talent carried him to the professional level, where he played football for the Cleveland Browns. His love of competition stayed with him throughout his life—he enjoyed golf, skiing, handball, boating, camping, fishing, and cheering on athletes of every age and in every sport.

His commitment to community and service remained constant. He was a proud member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church Knights of Columbus for more than 25 years, achieving Grand Knight status through his leadership. Bill also served as President of his homeowners’ association and was always involved in giving back, from running the town's youth sports programs to providing a home for international students and student teachers.

In addition to his work in education and athletics, Bill was the founder and owner of B & K Enterprises, a construction business he built with the same determination and integrity that defined every part of his life.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Karen Anne Andrews of Salem, SC; his son, Kurtis William Andrews; his daughters, Kirsten Marie Kliphouse of Palm Coast, FL, and Kimberly Ann Kelley of Clemson, SC; and his sons-in-law, Everett Allen Kliphouse of Palm Coast, FL, and Anthony Kelley of Clemson, SC. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kristine and Zachary Krause, Garrett Kliphouse, Alec Kliphouse, Cole and Macie Kliphouse, Quentin and Cate Kelley, Cooper Kelley, Owen Andrews, and Ryan Andrews; and his great-grandchildren: Kallie Krause, Shannon Krause, and Blakely Kliphouse.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Smigovsky Andrews and Thomas Andrews of Youngstown, Ohio; his sister, Christina Andrews of Youngstown, Ohio; and his brother, Robert Andrews of DeLand, Florida.

To his family, friends, students, and players, Bill was a steady presence—a man of principle, humility, and unwavering loyalty. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the lives he shaped, and the love he gave so generously.

The family will receive family and friends at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Clemson, SC on Oct 10th at 10:00AM followed by a Catholic Funeral mass at 11:00AM.
